At Pentland & Chandler Construction, we take pride in delivering high-quality results across a variety of construction and renovation projects. Here’s a glimpse at some of our recent work.
Project Type: Bespoke Design & Build
Description: Recently completed in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, this bespoke project combined a full garden refurbishment with the construction of a striking new summer room. Designed and built to the client’s exact requirements, the result is a space that blends contemporary architecture with functional outdoor living.
The summer room features floor-to-ceiling glazing and slimline frames, creating a light-filled interior with uninterrupted views of the landscaped garden. Inside, bespoke illuminated shelving and modern pendant lighting provide warmth and character, making the room perfect for dining, entertaining, or relaxing.
Externally, the garden was completely reimagined with premium stone paving, decorative patterned tiles beneath a handcrafted timber pergola, and newly landscaped planting areas. The combination of materials and design creates a stylish and practical outdoor setting, ideal for year-round enjoyment.
This project highlights the complete design and build service — delivering both indoor and outdoor spaces with the highest standard of craftsmanship.
Project Type: Single-Storey Extension
Description: We recently completed this beautiful extension and kitchen renovation, combining modern design with practicality.
The project features stunning herringbone flooring inside and composite decking outside, creating seamless transitions between the indoor and outdoor spaces.
High-quality windows, doors, fascia, and soffits were supplied by our trusted partners, UK Building Plastics Direct and The Oxford Window & Door Company.
The impressive composite decking was provided by Minster Paving Ltd, adding a stylish, durable outdoor area perfect for relaxation and entertainment.
Project Type: New Dining Room Extension

We at Pentland & Chandler Construction are incredibly honoured to be featured in Witney Town magazine, recognising our team’s efforts in helping a local family rebuild their home after a heartbreaking experience with a rogue builder. When we learned of Tom Walsh, Elisa Sonaglioni, and their young son’s plight, we felt compelled to step in. They had saved and planned for years to turn their Upper Rissington house into a family home, only to be left with a dangerously unsafe structure. The builder they had trusted had not only walked away with thousands of pounds but had left their home on the brink of collapse.
As builders with deep roots in Oxfordshire, we believe that no family should endure such distress, especially in their own home. After seeing Elisa’s social media post, we knew we couldn’t stand by. Our team sprang into action, working evenings and weekends to provide free labour and materials to stabilise the structure and restore some peace of mind to the family. It has been incredibly humbling to see the community rally around this cause. Thanks to generous contributions from local suppliers like Witney Steel Stock and Witney Plant Hire, we were able to replace defective beams, shore up structural weaknesses, and help ensure that the house is now safe.
This project has been a true team effort, and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone who stepped forward. Tom, Elisa, and their little boy deserve a home where they can create happy memories, not endure nightmares. Being able to give back in this way is exactly why we do what we do. As we continue our work, we’re reminded of the kindness and resilience of our community. We’re grateful to have played a role in turning things around for this family, and we look forward to seeing them finally settle into their dream home.

The cost of a home extension in the UK varies depending on several factors, such as the size of the extension, materials used, and location. On average, a single-storey extension typically costs between £1,200 to £2,500 per square metre.
For a double-storey extension, you can expect to pay around £1,500 to £3,000 per square metre. Additional costs include planning permission, architectural designs, and finishing touches, which can add to the overall expense.
Always consult with a local contractor for accurate estimates based on your specific needs.
In most cases, garden rooms or patios are considered “permitted development,” meaning planning permission is not required. However, there are some restrictions:
Always check with your local planning authority for specific guidelines, as rules can vary depending on your location.
Composite decking has gained popularity due to its durability and low maintenance. It is made from a blend of wood fibres and plastic, making it resistant to rot, mould, and fading. Unlike traditional wood decking, composite decking:
